The Wildcats had a tough night on Friday night, suffering a 58-6 homefield setback to visiting Williams. The Vikings did most of their damage on the ground, amassing 433 rushing yards. They scored twice in each of the four quarters. Joseph City managed just one score, which came in the third.
With the loss, the Wildcats fell to 2-5 on the season. They will have next week off, then will play their final game of the regular season on the 18th when they travel to face rival Mogollon. The Mustangs are currently ranked second in 1A while the Cats were sitting in the No. 15 position prior to Friday’s loss. In 1A football only the top 12 teams advance to the post season, meaning not only will Joseph City have to pull off a huge upset in Heber in two weeks, they will also need to get a lot of help from around the state if they want their season to progress into the post season.
