About the Tribune

Independent. Local. Painted Desert.

The Painted Desert Tribune covers Holbrook, Winslow, Snowflake-Taylor, Show Low, and Navajo County, in print every Wednesday and online every day.

Our Mission

"To cover this region with the seriousness it deserves and the affection it has earned."

We exist to give Navajo County's communities a paper that tells the truth about local government, takes the time to know its people, and treats every story with the care a small town requires.

What we cover

Town councils and the Board of Supervisors. School districts. Police, courts, and the sheriff. High school sports across all four area schools. Ranching, water, wildfire, and the public lands that surround us. Births, marriages, deaths.

How we work

Real reporters at every meeting. Bylines on every article. Photos taken in the room, not pulled off the wire. We correct mistakes openly and welcome letters from readers, even the ones we disagree with.

Who owns us

Locally owned and locally operated. Painted Desert Media Group, LLC is a small Arizona company with roots in Holbrook. We have no out-of-state owners, no corporate parent, and no plans to be sold to one.

Our Story

The full history of the Painted Desert Tribune will live here once the masthead writes it. Edit this page in wp-admin to fill it in.
