At last! The moment we’ve all been waiting for—winter’s icy grip begins to loosen, and spring emerges in its place. Not even my usual irritation at the early arrival of holiday merchandise on store shelves can dampen my excitement. Bring on the chocolate bunnies and Easter baskets!

Spring brings a sense of renewal and rejuvenation. It’s time to step outside, flip through seed catalogs, and consider adding some backyard chicks or fresh grass to the front yard. It’s also the perfect season to get active—whether that means working toward a summer-ready body or simply enjoying a deep breath of fresh air without the sting of winter’s bitter wind. Of course, I’m no idealist—winter won’t surrender so easily. There will still be gloomy days and, oh, that relentless wind. But that’s okay, because I can feel it in my bones—tomorrow will be beautiful.

I encourage everyone to try a little gardening this year. It doesn’t have to be elaborate—even a single tomato plant on the porch can bring joy. For those feeling more ambitious, check out the Arizona Cooperative Extension in Holbrook, visit Sweetland Community Garden in Winslow, or explore the Snowflake Arizona Victory Gardens Facebook page, which shares gardening tips for the Snowflake-Taylor area.

Dust off your outdoor gear and take advantage of the local gym, hiking trails, golf courses, and countless other outdoor activities. Shake off the winter blues and soak in the beauty of northeastern Arizona. Spring is here—let’s make the most of it!
