An area’s achievements aren’t accidents. An attractive avenue, an accessible arena, an admirable arts association and an ambitious agenda all arise as average Arizonans act. An apathetic audience, alas, accomplishes absolute annihilation.

Across Arizona, an age-old adversary advances: apathy. At assemblies, attendance atrophies. At afternoon activities, audiences appear anemic. Afterward, anonymous analysts announce abundant accusations against administrators, attacking almost anything and applauding almost nothing. An alarming arrangement, admittedly.

Accountability, absolutely, applies across all areas. Administrators, agencies and anyone awarded authority are answerable. Ask about appropriations. Analyze agendas. Attend assemblies. Argue against abuses. Applaud admirable accomplishments. An alert, active audience assures accountability, and accountability anchors an area’s advancement.

An admirable area also acknowledges absent allies. Are aging adults accommodated? Are aspiring artists afforded an audience? Are adolescents allowed avenues for achievement? Are anxious arrivals accepted and assisted? An authentic alliance accommodates all, avoiding arrogance, alienation and antagonism.

And action? Action appears anywhere. An abandoned animal adopted. An ailing acquaintance assisted. An athlete applauded. An alley attended to. An annual auction arranged. Apparently insignificant acts accumulate, and accumulated acts achieve astonishing accomplishments anywhere. Anyone has an actual ability to act accordingly.

Admittedly, an ambitious appeal asks a lot. Avowed apathy often arrives automatically through entropy. Action asks attention, ambition and, at alternating intervals, actual effort. Alas, advancement almost always asks a couple adversarial acts.

Arizona already abounds with admirable Americans. Artists and agriculturalists, academics and apprentices, advocates and adventurers all add an abundance of ability across our arid abode. An area’s greatest asset, after all, always amounts to its amazing assortment of anyone antsy enough for advancement.

Above all, abandon apathy. Attend. Ask. Advocate. Assist. Appreciate. Applaud. Act.
