As Thanksgiving Day draws to a close tomorrow, most of us will find ourselves full, content, and surrounded by loved ones, having shared a special meal with family and friends. In the moments between the turkey and the pie, many of us will pause to reflect and count our blessings. Even in challenging times, there is much to be thankful for.
Once we’ve taken stock of what we’re grateful for, it’s time to give back. With Christmas just four weeks away, as you plan holiday meals, parties, and check off your gift lists, I encourage you to also think of those who are struggling this season. How can you help make this holiday season brighter for them?
Many charities are in greater need this year than ever before. Local food banks and civic organizations will be collecting items for Christmas baskets, and schools and stores will soon feature angel trees for gift donations. You may even know a family in need whom you can help quietly, without fanfare.
The holiday season is a time of joy, but it would be even more joyful if no one had to go without. This year let’s dig a little deeper and spread the warmth of the season to those who need it most. In doing so, we will find our own hearts richer for the experience.
