Traditionally the holidays are a time of love and charity, and a time to gather with friends and family. It also brings a heightened awareness of those in need. As we all know, the cost of food, gas and well, pretty much everything has risen considerably. For those living on the fringe, barely making it paycheck to paycheck, such increases in costs are defeating, stressful and can lead to depression during a season that can bring stark contrast between those have and those who do not. For those who have the resources, I hope you find someone in need that you can provide service for this season; I guarantee it will brighten not only their holiday but yours as well.

If you’re uncertain of who to serve, I’d like to suggest taking part in the Adopt a Family Holiday Program that has been organized by the Navajo County Family Advocacy Center. Their deadline is coming up quick but it’s a great opportunity to bring joy to a child that has suffered serious harm, and who could possibly be more deserving of Christ-like service? This is an opportunity that I hope we all take advantage of in order to feel the true meaning of Christmas this holiday season.
