As I reflect on the months since I took over this newspaper in May, I’m filled with gratitude for all we’ve achieved together. Over that time, my staff has seen me on the bad end of several learning curves, but their patience, understanding, and unwavering support have allowed us to build The Tribune to bigger and better than it was this time last year.
We were very close to the end of the 115-year-old relay race that Tribune publishers have been in since 1909. However, instead of concluding this historic journey, we are embarking on an exciting new chapter. I can’t wait to see the paper flourish in this new era as the Painted Desert Tribune. This transformation represents not only a new name but also a renewed vision and commitment to our community.
To Linda and Talaina Kor, Matt and Debbie Barger, Dani O’Callaghan, Ty Adelman, Katie Willis, Greg Perkins, Kathy Contreras, and Crystal Fisher—thank you for your creativity, dedication and hard work. Despite being a small team, each of you has played an essential role in keeping our community informed and connected.
Special thanks to our contributors like, Rich and Berry Larson, Jim Buckley and Kellie Spangler, for all you do. All of our contributors help to turn this paper into the community outlet and historical record that it needs to be.
There are many others who have offered ideas, feedback, or words of encouragement throughout the year and I’m deeply grateful for each and every one of you. It’s a privilege to be part of a community that genuinely supports one another and your engagement inspires me to strive for excellence every day.
Looking ahead to the new year, I’m excited about what we can accomplish as we continue to learn and grow together. Thank you all for trusting us, believing in our mission and helping us bring reliable local journalism back to life. We have much in store for 2025 and none of it would be possible without your ongoing support.
