The Lady Lobos entered the 3A state playoffs as the number two overall seed and through the first two rounds on Saturday their play matched their ranking.
Snowflake took care of No. 15 Tuba City early Saturday morning by scores of 25-18, 25-15 and 25-9. That win advanced them to the quarterfinal round where they met up with seventh seeded Odyssey Institute. This match wasn’t as close as the first, with Snowflake advancing to Tuesday’s semi-final round with a 25-10, 25-10 and 25-19 win.
In the semi-final match, which will be played at 7 p.m., at Marcos de Niza High School the Lobos will face No. 3 seed Monument Valley who advanced through the first two rounds with just one lost set. The other half of the bracket has top seeded Valley Christian facing the No. 4 seed Northwest Christian in the first of the two semi-final matches. The two winners will meet for the state championship at 1 p.m. on Friday at Veterans Memorial Coliseum.
If the top two seeds, Valley Christian and Snowflake meet in the title game it will be a chance for the Lobos to avenge their only regular season loss of the year, which came against the Trojans.
