The Lobo volleyball powerhouse has picked up steam in recent weeks running off eight consecutive wins since their opening season loss to Gilbert Christian at the end of August.

Their two most recent regular season wins came last week with relative ease. The sixth-ranked Lady Lobos were in Safford on Tuesday, taking on the 11th-ranked Bulldogs. The first two sets were somewhat close, with Snowflake winning game one 25-18, and game two 25-21. They put any doubt about the outcome taking game three 25-8.

Chelsea Caskey finished with 15 of the team’s 41 kills. Safford finished with 17 total kills. Ranell West added 9 for the Lobos and Bryn Kupfer finished with 8. Gracie Lundberg collected 12 digs. Caskey added 8, and Lucy Lyman helped with 6. Setter Lundberg lofted up 33 assists in the win.

The following day the team was in Holbrook taking on the struggling Roadrunners. Snowflake controlled game one 25-14, then held off a pesky Holbrook team in game two 25-20. Game three went more to form with the Lobos winning 25-10.

Caskey again led in kills with 15. Alyssa Peterson added 7, and West finished with 5. Lyman led in digs with 7 followed by Caskey with 6, Taya Schneider, and Lundberg each had 5. Lundberg again led in assists with 32.

Snowflake competed in the Battle of the Realm Tournament hosted by Arizona College Prep over the weekend. Results for that tournament will be posted next week.

This week the Lobos resume regular season play with a home-court match with Winslow on Tuesday followed by a road trip to Alchesay on Wednesday. Next week they will host Show Low. Snowflake entered this week with an 8-1 regular season mark.
