Love is in the air, at least for a day. I used to think that Valentine’s Day was little more than a day when florists, candy makers and sappy greeting card writers make bank but I think I’ve changed my mind. I think maybe a little sappiness is okay if it also serves to remind us to be present, because if you’re like me life can get hectic; even when things are going well. Perhaps a day set aside with its constant reminders to show some love is just what’s needed to remind us we need to focused back to what is really important.
So, bring on the chocolate, the jewelry and the homemade coupons for dish washing, dinner making and back rubs. Enjoy the homemade Valentine’s, take in a romantic dinner, a movie with the kids or whatever you do to show love to the people you care most about. Those feelings don’t change the rest of the year but if there is one day to go the extra mile, to go beyond the everyday, to really shine, might as well make it Valentine’s Day because everything is already supplied, all you need to add is the love.
