Aleene Rogers of Thatcher, formerly of Joseph City and Heber, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2015. Services will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 14, in the Main Street Chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Snowflake. The family will receive visitors from 2 p.m. until just prior to services. Aleene was born to Lois and Alvirus Ogden “Bige” Rogers in Snowflake on June 9, 1931. She grew up in Snowflake and graduated from Snowflake High School in 1949. After graduating from high school, she worked as a seamstress in the Tom Burns Dry Cleaners in Holbrook. During this time she met her future husband, LeRoy Dale Cluff. They were married in the Mesa Temple on Jan. 5, 1951. She was known for her beautiful singing voice and sang for many special occasions. Aleene was also a very accomplished seamstress, and utilized that talent as a profession and throughout her life. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Leroy Dale Cluff and E. Glyn Rogers; and her oldest child, David Keith Cluff. Survivors include a brother, Lewis Rogers of Holbrook; and her children, Tracy Davis, Dalene Griffin (John Griffin), Russell Cluff (Tricia Killian) and Tauna Neerings (Scott Neerings). She has nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. To her great-grandchildren she was known as “Big Grandma” (though she wasn’t all that big). Her son Russell said it best: “We are honored to have been raised by and loved by such a pure soul. We hope with a little effort we can learn to live and love the way she did.”
