Editor,
A man by the name of Hugh Grant (not the movie star) donated a large quantity of Diamond Art Paintings to benefit the residents of the Holbrook Extended Care facility in honor of his wife who had recently passed away. Ruth Wallace began getting volunteers to help create these works of art. These Diamond Art Paintings were sold at last year’s County Fair and at the Holbrook Christmas Parade.
It was decided that special dinners for the residents would take place with the funds. Saturday, Aug. 29, was the first one. The residents were treated to a Navajo taco dinner with all the fixings and a special dessert.
Volunteers helping with this meal included Ruth Wallace, Bill Jeffers, Chef Ray McLaws, bakers Charlie and Irma Carpenter, Hazel and Caroline, Sibby Smith, Melia Smith and Kiara Smith. The residents loved it!
We will be selling the remainder of the Diamond Paintings at this year’s County Fair (and any extra ones at the Holbrook Christmas Parade). Look for our booth in Martinez Hall (Holbrook Extended Care, Smile Train and Dinner Fund).

Thank you,
