I’ve been in this business for a long time, and one of the things I value most is witnessing the positive impact people create within their own communities. I’m not talking about large industries moving in from the outside, but rather the grassroots efforts—neighbors coming together, building spaces where people can gather, connect, and share ideas. That’s where true change begins. It nurtures a mindset of optimism, where people move away from posting negative comments on social media and instead express gratitude for the progress being made, no matter how small. As that negativity fades, so does the tension and the energy it drains from the community.

When you think about it, this is how all great things start—with one small step in the right direction. I often reflect on how new this area is to modern development: concrete buildings, paved roads, and “75 mph” speed limits. Not long ago, people traveled these dusty plains on horseback, pausing to imagine, “We can build community here.” With that vision, they laid the foundation for what we enjoy today.

We live privileged lives thanks to those who came before us, but their legacy began with a simple determination to bring people together. And the story isn’t finished. There is still tremendous potential ahead. With creativity and perseverance, we too can leave a mark. Someday, we may look back with pride and say, “We built community here,” knowing we created something lasting for the generations to come.
