Winslow’s homecoming celebration last week brought the town together in a display of unity and school spirit. The day kicked off with a vibrant parade through the streets, where students, staff, and community members came out in full force.

Homecoming King Michael Romero and Queen Analycia Valenzuela were crowned, joined by their court including Wesley Reid, Amanda Childers, Carlos Tafoya, Adysen Leonard, Reese Wood, Shai Barton, Tanner Short and Makia Wilson, all proudly representing Winslow High School. The theme, “Smells Like Team Spirit,” was a playful reference to Nirvana’s 1991 hit, a song that was released 16 years before the next graduating class was born.

Honored as Homecoming Dedicatees, Lynne and Devon Sawyer were recognized for their long-standing commitment to the schools and athletic programs, a true testament to their dedication to Winslow’s youth. The culmination of the festivities was the football game against the Crimson Rattlers from Queen Creek.

Despite the Bulldogs’ hard-fought efforts, they ended the night with a 34-0 loss, but the community’s pride and the celebration of homecoming week shone brightly, making it an unforgettable event for all involved.
