Joseph City now has its first three-game winning streak in several seasons officially on paper, after their 60-0 beatdown of the Baboquivari Warriors on Friday night.
The long trip south to Sells, did not hamper the Wildcats’ performance, as they handled the winless home team in every aspect of the game, moving their season mark to 4-1.
According to the official MaxPreps rankings, which are the ones used by AIA for this year’s state bracket, the Wildcats are ranked eighth in the 1A rankings. Football is the only team sport where the AIA is using MaxPreps for the official rankings.
This week, the Wildcats will travel to Mayer to face a like-named Mayer team, which is 2-3 overall and gave up an average of 64 points in its three losses to Williams, Superior and Mogollon last week.
Expect Joseph City to improve to 5-1 and push that win streak to four games before facing a very good Williams team in two weeks.
