The Wildcats bounced back from the Aug. 28, setback to Mohave Accelerated with a 48-12 road win over Salome on Sept. 4. The game was played at Wickenburg High School’s field.
With short notice on who their opponent was the week before the game, they still managed 42 points but just couldn’t figure out Mohave’s offense.
With a full week to prepare for the Frogs, Joseph City was in control throughout, getting the easy win. Scoring 48 points always helps, but their defense was stronger, holding Salome to just 2 touchdowns.
On Sept. 11, the Wildcats will host San Manuel. The Miners are 1-2 on the season, coming off last week’s 0-42 loss to Mohave Accelerated. That common opponent bodes well for the Wildcats. They scored 42 points vs the Patriots while the Miners failed to score, so based on that stat alone, Joseph City should move their season mark to 3-1 with a home-field win on Friday night in a favorable matchup.
