The City of Holbrook has lined up some spooky events for young and old alike for Halloween.
A Zombie fun run/walk will be held on Saturday, Oct. 29, at the Little Colorado River, with registration and parking at the empty lot at the end of South Apache Drive. Registration is slated to begin at 5:15 p.m. and the event will start at 6 p.m. The cost is $5 per person or $10 per family, with the proceeds earmarked to benefit Holbrook Youth Basketball. Get into the spirit of the event and wear a costume to be in the running for an award for the best costume.
Sign-ups for youth basketball will be held from 5 to 6 p.m. at the lot for kids in fourth through eighth grade. The cost will be $20 per player.
If being chased by zombies puts you in the mood for more frights, visit the Haunted House at the Navajo County Fairgrounds, located at 404 E. Hopi Drive. It is free of charge and will be open from 8 to 10 p.m. on Saturday.
The Roxy Theater and Friends of the Holbrook Library will present The Rocky Horror Picture Show at 10 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 29. Show up in movie-themed costume and get a free small bag of popcorn. A prop kit will be available, but no outside props will be allowed. Tickets are $10 and may be purchased in advance at the library or the theater.
From 6 to 8:30 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 31, the annual Halloween Spooktacular will take place at the county fairgrounds. The event will include a tractor pulled hay wagon ride, Monster Mash dance lessons, games, food, music, a costume contest and lots of candy. The Haunted House will be open from 6 to 9 p.m. on Monday. Both of these events are free and for all ages.
