The Lady Roadrunners played just once during their fall break. That match was in Whiteriver, where they fell to Alchesay in five games.
Traveling to the Chief Alchesay Center on Thursday, Holbrook split the first four games, forcing a fifth. In that fifth, they had built a 13-11 lead before the Falcons rallied late to win the 5th game and the match 16-14.
The loss really dampened Holbrook’s postseason hopes. They enter this week ranked 29th with the loss to 37th-ranked Alchesay. The team needs to climb into the top 24 in the final rankings or work its way into the championship match of the upcoming 3A north region tournament, to have a chance to extend its season.
They have three matches left on their schedule and all are must-win games.
Tuesday, they will host 30th-ranked Winslow. Thursday, they welcome 21st-ranked Ganado. Their final game will be on Monday when they travel to face St. Johns, who is ranked 10th in the 2A standings.
Holbrook enters this week with an overall record of 7-15. They are 4-10 in regular-season contests.
