A project to repave 10 miles of State Route 77 from Shumway through Taylor and Snowflake will begin on Monday, July 23, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation. The $5 million pavement improvement project (mileposts 352-362), which is scheduled for completion by the end of September, will include: * Removing a layer of the existing pavement and repaving the roadway. * Replacing pedestrian ramps and repairing sidewalks in Taylor and Snowflake. * Applying new pavement markings and replacing guardrail. Initial work will include repair of sidewalks in Taylor and Snowflake. Paving is scheduled to begin Aug. 6 on the two-lane segment of the highway between Shumway and Taylor. Work hours will be sunrise to sunset, Monday through Saturday. Pilot cars and flaggers will be used to guide traffic through the construction zone in alternating directions. Drivers should anticipate delays of up to 30 min-utes. After the two-lane segment of the highway has been paved, workers will begin repaving the five-lane seg-ment through Taylor and Snowflake. Work hours will be sunrise to sunset, Monday through Friday. Traffic lanes will be restricted and the speed limit will be reduced through the work zone. Business and driveway access will be maintained during construction, and efforts will be made to minimize impacts to adjacent businesses and properties. Drivers are advised to proceed through the work zone with cau-tion, slow down, and be alert for construction equipment and personnel. ADOT works to inform the public about planned highway restrictions, but there is a possibility that unsched-uled closures or restrictions may occur. Weather can also affect a project schedule.
