Holbrook’s baseball season didn’t go as hoped, with the team dropping their last 10 games. They had one final game left on Monday with a trip to Blue Ridge but regardless of that outcome, their season will come to a close.
The team played four times last week, losing all four matchups. On Monday they hosted rival Winslow and fell to the Bulldogs 22-7. Wednesday’s game was a road loss in Snowflake by a final of 3-15. On Thursday Holbrook made the trip to Payson and played well but lost 5-9. Their final game of the week was a 9-11 loss at Joseph City on Saturday afternoon.
Holbrook will more than likely close out the season with an overall record of 9-15 under first-year head Coach Ryan Baldonado. The season started well enough, with them winning four of their first five games and eight of the first 13. They were just unable to keep that momentum going through the second half of the season.
The team will have to replace six seniors from this year’s roster as they prepare for next season.
