Holbrook’s boys’ soccer team had a solid week, picking up back-to-back wins over Williams and Winslow to balance their overall season record at 2-2-1.

Hosting the Vikings on Wednesday evening last week, both teams battled in a defensive struggle. Neither team could find the mark through all of the first half and the first thirty-five minutes of the second half before Braydon Taliman finally edged a shot past the Williams keeper for the only goal of the game. The Vikings came close to tying the match in the waning moments, but two close shots were missed, leaving Holbrook with a hard-fought 1-0 win.

Playing in Winslow on Saturday afternoon, Holbrook had an easier time, finding the goal four different times to beat the Bulldogs 4-0.

Tildyn Larson scored twice; Di’ondro Charley and Sebastian Hernandez each scored once.

This week, the team will play a 4 p.m. game in Round Valley on Tuesday, then will compete in the Show Low Tournament this coming weekend. They are slated to face Round Valley and Winslow on Friday, then host team Show Low on Saturday, before playing in the bracket Saturday afternoon.

The Lady Roadrunners are looking for small successes at this point in the season, and they were rewarded with their first goal of the year at Camp Verde on Thursday afternoon. Playing in temperatures over 100 degrees, Holbrook’s Camesha Bahe found the back of the net for Holbrook’s lone goal in a 9-1 loss to the Lady Cowboys.

Saturday afternoon, Holbrook was in Winslow, where they failed to score in a 0-6 loss to the Lady Bulldogs, bringing their season record to 0-5.

Holbrook travels to Round Valley on Tuesday, then will host St. Johns on Thursday this week. Both games are scheduled to begin at 6 p.m.
