The Lady Roadrunners were busy with three matches played last week. Unfortunately, only one of the three was competitive, but all three resulted in a loss for the program still in search of its first regular season win.
Tuesday, the team traveled to Canyon Day, where they fought hard but dropped a 3-2 set to the Lady Falcons. Holbrook dropped the first game 18-25, bounced back to win the second 25-23. Game three went to Alchesay 25-21. Holbrook forced the fifth game with a 25-23 game four win. The final game and the match went to Alchesay 15-9.
Playing in Ganado on Thursday, Holbrook played a close first game before losing 26-28. That seemed to take the wind out of their sails, with the Hornets taking game two 25-14 and game three 25-19.
Saturday, a trip to Window Rock was similar. A close loss in game one, 26-24, was followed by two subpar games with the Scouts prevailing 25-15 and 25-8.
This week, Holbrook, now 0-4, will host Winslow on Tuesday. Thursday, they will travel to Blue Ridge. Friday and Saturday, Holbrook will compete in the “Be Like Nat” Tournament hosted by Snowflake. Friday’s pool play opponents are: Round Valley, Thatcher, and Red Mountain.
Holbrook will return to regular season play on Tuesday, the 23rd, with a trip to Show Low.
