Both Holbrook soccer teams rank near the bottom of the initial power rankings released earlier this week. Unfortunately, nothing during the week moved them up.
The boys’ team played well once last week, hanging close with St. Johns in the first half but losing ground in the second for a 1-6 loss. Braylon Taliman scored Holbrook’s lone goal.
This week, the team is again scheduled for only one contest hosting Round Valley at 4 p.m. on Tuesday. Seniors will be recognized between the boys’ and girls’ games, which start at 6 p.m. at Roadrunner Stadium. Holbrook is 2-6-1 overall this season.
The Lady Roadrunners were in Payson on Wednesday, where they fell to the fourth-ranked Lady Longhorns 0-10. Friday’s trip to Flagstaff, where they faced second-ranked Northland Prep, produced a similar result: a 0-9 loss for Holbrook.
This week, they will host seventh-ranked Round Valley on Tuesday night. Seniors will be recognized before the game. The following night, Holbrook will host top-ranked St. Johns at 6 p.m. at Roadrunner Stadium.
