SNOWFLAKE — “Faster, bigger, better is not always the best way to go if it effects the human body adversely,” shared Sharon Casjens, as she and three other women, Leila Baroody, Susan Molloy and Melinda Wilson, all who live east of Snowflake, addressed the Snowflake Town Council on growing concerns over the safety of smart meters, 5G and wireless internet at the meeting on March 5.

Casjens passed out information as she continued to share, “The problem caused by smart meters and the 5G is the radio frequencies they emit and the radiation-dirty electricity that is spread on a continuous basis as it builds up in the body. Young people are most at risk due to their small body mass and developing brains.”

In her conclusion, Casjens gave a solution that would create a safer world, namely returning to the use of traditional analog meters and fiber optic wiring underground.

Baroody said, “The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has sliced and diced consumer rights and state’s rights and we need to demand that FCC prove the health risks of micro radiation from different devices. I am for trying to protect our children and inform people of the risk of the technology being rolled out. The trade off should not be faster speed for increased health risks.”

Baroody also noted that the difference between this new world of micro radiation versus tobacco and even genetically-modified food, is that the consumer can choose whether they smoke or eat GMOs. “Micro radiation is blankets of radiation that invades our bodies without our knowledge. Our bodies cannot handle the million pulses per second and higher that is being created. Just turning off the Wi-Fi at night can help our kids.”

Molloy shared that she would be 70 in a few days. “More than ever I rely on the better air quality, quiet and low electromagnetic fields that we have outside of Snowflake to stay independent. Dozens of us rely on our houses and our general area staying safe enough to live in. To us the threat of a ‘smart’ utility meter being put on or near where we live and the communication devices and systems, may pose, effectively, an eviction for us.”

Wilson said she moved east of Snowflake in 2012. “I have noticed an increase in the radiation frequency coming through where I live. I am concerned with the possible deployment of 5G. There are states that are rethinking the smart meters because of the fires and illness. Here we do have an opt out from Arizona Public Service, but even the digital meter is difficult and that also has an effect.”

At the end of their presentations, Mayor Lynn Johnson said, “Your concerns and comments are noted. The education material is most important.”
