Two men were unharmed after the small aircraft they were piloting crashed east of Snowflake on Friday, Nov. 11. According to the Navajo County Sheriff’s Office, Alvin Berg, 77, of Overgaard and Jacob Letner, 34, of Show Low flew out of Taylor in a Piper Cherokee 235 single engine plane with Berg, a seasoned pilot, training Letner how to fly out of a stall. Approximately five miles east of Snowflake the men say the plane lost power and Letner was unable to pull out of the stall. Although he found an open field, the aircraft sustained significant damage as it came in for a landing. The National Transportation Safety Board, along with the Federal Aviation Administration, is investigating the crash.
