The Lobos had to battle last Friday night before finally coming away with a hard fought, 20-12 victory over visiting Florence. Snowflake’s usual strong rushing attack was held in check by the Gophers through much of the game, but the Lobos made up for it with enough big plays in the passing game to break a 12-12 tie in the fourth period and remain unbeaten on the season with their fifth straight win.
Tyler Claridge ran for zero net yards, but did find the end zone one time on the ground. Through the air he completed 11 of 22 passes for 176 yards with a pair of touchdowns and an interception.
JT Tate had a big night, catching three balls for 132 yards and found the end zone twice, once from 65 yards out. Kurt Wood had two receptions for 25 yards. Alex Patterson had two grabs for one yard. Zach Solomon caught one for three yards, and Login Whitlock had one grab good for 15 yards.
Patterson rushed 18 times, picking up 58 yards to lead the Lobos. Solomon gained 27 yards on 10 runs. Tanner Willis ran three times for 14 yards. Trent Hatch carried twice for two yards.
Wood had two interceptions to help seal the win.
This week the Lobos hit the road for a trip to Page, where they will be heavy favorites to move to 6-0 on the season. The rest of October won’t be so easy. Blue Ridge, Payson and Show Low line the docket following the Page game.
