The Lobos made the 3A state tournament by virtue of their 9-5 win over Tonopah Valley on April 26. That win placed them into the 3A state bracket as the No. 13 seed where they met up with fourth-seeded Pusch Ridge Academy on Friday in Tucson.
The game was a pitcher’s duel at least through the first five innings where the Lions scored the game’s only run up to that point in the bottom of the third inning. Pusch Ridge scored four runs in the sixth inning and continued to hold Lobo bats at bay for all seven innings in what resulted in a 5-0 season-ending loss for the Lobos.
Snowflake managed just three hits in the game. Braden Frost went 1 for 2. Brevin Matthews was 2 for 3, and those were the only two Lobos to get a hit.
Brennen Bryant pitched well. He worked six innings allowing five runs on just eight hits, with a pair of walks and one strikeout.
With the loss, the Lobos wrap up their season with an overall record of 17-10.
