The Lady Wildcats had just one game last week but it was a big one. Their trip to Superior on Wednesday pitted the top two ranked teams in 1A softball.
Joseph City rolled into town and shutout the top-ranked Lady Panthers 9-0, holding them to just 2 hits in the game.
The Wildcats scored 2 in the first, then added 2 more in the third, and 1 in the fifth to lead 5-0. They finished them off with 2 runs in each of the sixth and seventh frames.
Superior came into this game with a 16-1-1 overall record. Following the win the Wildcats were still ranked second behind Superior, but they closed the game to just fractional points.
The team will be busier this week. After facing Bagdad in Winslow on Monday, they will host Williams on Wednesday, then travel to take on Show Low on Saturday. Next Monday they wrap up the regular season at St. Johns.
The Wildcats enter this week with a 7-3 regular season mark, and they are 15-8 overall.
