Softball 2 Holbrook

Including three wins at their last tournament and now six regular season wins, the Lady Roadrunners have quietly put together a nine-game winning streak and climbed securely into the top 10 in the 3A rankings with a 7-2 regular season mark. They entered this week with an overall record of 12-6.

Holbrook played just once last week with a trip to Blue Ridge where they had little problems with a struggling Yellowjacket team. Holbrook started slowly with just one run through the first two innings. That changed in the third where they scored seven runs. Following a single run in the fourth, Holbrook ended the game with nine more runs in the fifth to win in five innings 18-0.

Sarah Slim went 2 for 4 with a pair of home runs and six RBI. Tamryn Baldonado also homered and doubled while going 3 for 4. Natalie Patterson hit a home run and a double as well while going 3 for 5. Christyana Serna was 1 for 4 with a double. Madison Moore went 2 for 3; Elizabeth Paschal, 1 for 2; Macy Moore, 3 for 3 with a double; and Angelique Tyler went 2 for 2 with a double.

Baldonado worked all five innings in the circle, giving up just four hits with a walk and seven strikeouts.

Holbrook is scheduled to play on four consecutive days this week. The first three will be at home. They host Show Low on Tuesday, then Payson on Wednesday, and Winslow comes to town on Thursday. On Friday they travel to Kayenta to face the Mustangs.
