The Lady Roadrunners opened their volleyball season at the Payson tournament Aug. 30-31, with pool play matches on Friday followed by bracket play on Saturday. Twenty-four teams competed in the tournament.
Holbrook dropped all four of their pool games losing to Higley, Florence, North Valley Christian and Veritas Prep all in three games each on Friday. That pool play record placed them into the consolation portion of the bracket where they defeated Globe 2-0, lost to Fountain Hills 0-2, then bounced back with a 25-13 win over Tonapa Valley in a single game. They closed out the tournament with a 20-25 loss to Fountain Hills in their final bracket game.
This week the team will open east region play at Show Low on Wednesday, followed by a return trip to Payson for a regular season match on Saturday. They will have their home opener next Tuesday when they welcome in Alchesay.
All tickets for that game will be sold only on GOFAN. No Cash tickets will be sold at the door.
