Two more games, two more region wins for the top ranked Snowflake Lady Lobos. They took care of Blue Ridge by nearly 40 points for the second time in four days with a 62-25 final score on Tuesday night. Their first meeting on the previous Friday was a 64-26 outcome.
Hosting Show Low on Friday night in what was essentially the region title game, Snowflake prevailed 44-29. Snowflake is 8-0 in the region with just two games remaining. Show Low and Alchesay both have three losses, so the region crown goes to Snowflake.
The Lady Lobos still sit at number one in both the 3A rankings, as well as the Copper Tournament rankings heading into the final week of the regular season.
This week they will travel to Show Low on Tuesday night, then finish up the regular season at home vs Winslow on Wednesday night. Neither team is expected to challenge their unbeaten region mark.
The first round of the Copper tournament will begin on Tuesday, Feb. 10, at sites of the high seeds, meaning the Lobos will more than likely host the 16th seeded team. The second round is two days later, also at high seeds. The semi-finals of the Copper tournament will be held Feb. 21, at a site yet to be determined.
Snowflake is 25-1 overall and 16-0 in conference play going into the final week of the regular season.
