Veteran Services toy delivery 2

Veteran Services USATeam coordinated with Toys for Tots and Wings of Faith/Native American Emergency Relief coordinated efforts in a second annual Christmas toy distribution to Navajo children.

Veteran Services USA picked up donated toys, new clothing items and dry food goods from Wings of Faith hangar in Holbrook on Dec. 2, then the toys were carefully unloaded and separated into categories and brought to the Manuelito Navajo Children’s Home in Gallup and Ama Doo Alchini Bighan, Inc. in Chinle.

Manuelito Navajo Children’s Home provided a list of 23 children ranging in age from 6 to 17. On Dec. 8, the Veteran Services USA team loaded up the gifts and made the trip to deliver the toys in person. Each child received their gift and a personalized stocking with holiday treats. The reward was seeing all the big smiles, words of appreciation and hugs from the children.

Ama Doo Alchini Bighan, Inc. is a domestic violence resource center for women and children. Advocates provided a list of over 50 children ranging in age from a few months to 17. Delivery was made on Dec. 9, by the Veteran Services USA team, who reported that it was heartwarming to meet a few parents and children. They enjoyed the process from start to finish and look forward to next year.
