A domestic dispute between two brothers has resulted in the death of a Ganado man. At 10:27 p.m. on Monday, April 20, police dispatch received a call for an ambulance at a residence in the 100 block of East Florida Street in Holbrook. A police officer was first to arrive on scene, and found two people attempting to help a man bleeding in the yard of the residence. According to Police Chief Mark Jackson, the officer made every effort to stabilize the victim until the ambulance arrived. “The ambulance took the victim to Joseph City to meet with the medical transport helicopter, but by the time they got there, he had already died,” he said. The victim has been identified as Darryn Curley Jr., 28, of Ganado. The suspect is his brother, Darryl Curley, 23, who lived at the residence. Chief Jackson explained that Darryn Curley apparently arrived at the residence around noon that day for a family gathering, and that he and his brother had been drinking prior to the incident. “A fist fight began and then the suspect allegedly went into the home and came out with a kitchen knife. There was a scuffle as another family member tried to intervene and was injured, and then Darryn was either stabbed or cut in the neck,” he stated. Darryl Curley was charged with aggravated assault and second-degree murder. He was booked into the Navajo County Jail. The Navajo County Homicide Task Force, consisting of law enforcement investigators from agencies throughout the county, is assisting HPD with the investigation.
