performance stage

The Holbrook High School Drama Department will be performing the fall production, Edelweiss, on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 4 and 5, in the George Gardner Performing Arts Center on campus.

The play transports the audience back to the Nazi regime in Germany and the impact the oppressive control of government had on the youth. This dramatic piece follows a class of girls through a year under the direction of a new teacher who believes they should feel safe and free in the classroom, but they are constantly under the watch of the schoolmaster, the Hitler Youth and a Gestapo officer. When it becomes apparent someone in the class is revealing their secrets, each girl wonders when she will be the next to be removed.

The show is a gift to the community, and admission is free. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. The show begins at 7 o’clock, and will run approximately an hour and a half.
