Smile Train is now the world leader for cleft palate surgeries! Third world countries benefit from doctors and nurses volunteering time to travel to these countries to help children have a chance at life. Without correction surgeries, they will never be allowed in schools, get jobs, or marry.
Holbrook and the surrounding communities have been supporting the Smith and Taylor families for 15 years now in their fundraising efforts to serve these efforts. Each year they sell items and raise money for Smile Train. They wait for a triple match so their efforts will go further. In past years, one surgery cost was $250, and it now takes $400 to surgically give a smile.
For the first time ever, in January of this year, Holbrook received an opportunity for a five-time match! This means that $100 is equal to $500! Their goal was to raise $1,200 by April 15 for 15 smiles to happen for needy children. Currently, they have raised $1,425. Now we are going for $1,600 for 20 children to receive the smiles they deserve! The deadline is April 15.
There is still time to donate or purchase items the Smith and Taylor families are selling. This includes jams, fresh eggs, goodies, etc. If anyone is interested, please call Twyla Taylor at 928-241-1075 or Ron Smith at 928-241-2202. More information is available at smiletrain.org
It is very rewarding to be a part of worthy missions such as Smile Train! Hop on Board!
