A holiday favorite in the Holbrook community, the Chamber of Commerce-sponsored Festival of Trees is slated for 6 to 9 p.m., Thursday and Friday, Nov. 30-Dec. 1, and 2 to 10 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 2, with Santa visiting from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Catholic Family Life Center, located at 202 E. Hopi Drive. The community Christmas theme this year is “A Very Vintage Christmas.”
What is the Festival of Trees? It’s a walk through a winter wonderland of decorated trees to the accompaniment of Christmas music while munching on just-out-of-the-oven cookies and sipping hot chocolate. It’s a time to meet and chat with friends and neighbors while enjoying a plethora of beautifully decorated trees. Children get to meet Santa and have their picture taken. It’s an opportunity to catch the Christmas spirit at the start of the season before the holiday rush begins.
There is no charge for this community event but a silent auction of beautiful, handcrafted wreaths will be available to bid upon throughout each evening.
Schools, clubs, businesses, families and individuals are encouraged to enter a tree in the festival. Set-up times are from 6 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 29, and 8 a.m. to 12 noon on Thursday, Nov. 30. To register a tree, contact Chamber of Commerce Director Cindy Tafoya by stopping by the chamber offices in the Historic Courthouse any weekday morning, by emailing her at holbrookazchamber1@gmail.com or by calling (928) 524-6558. All trees must be taken down at the conclusion of the Festival at 10 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 2, unless other arrangements are made.
To provide live background holiday music in half-hour increments throughout the festival, contact Debbie Shumway at (928) 241-0522 or Cindy Tafoya as noted above. Groups, choirs, ensembles and soloists are welcome
