The Snowflake/Taylor Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) will offer a 20-hour basic emergency response training course from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturdays, Nov. 7 and 14, at Taylor-Snowflake Fire Station No. 2, located at 328 West Fourth South in Snowflake. The course is open to anyone who wishes to attend. There is no charge for attendance. Following a major disaster, first responders who provide police, fire and medical services will not be able to meet the demand for services. Factors such as the number of victims, communication failures and road blockages will prevent people from accessing emergency services they have come to expect at a moment’s notice through 911. People will have to rely on each other for help in order to meet their immediate lifesaving and life sustaining needs. Train now, so that you will be prepared to assist your family and friends. Training includes Disaster Preparedness; Fire Safety and Utility Controls; Medical Operations; Light Search and Rescue; Disaster Psychology; CERT Organizations; and Terrorism and CERT. Anyone interested in attending is asked to register by e-mailing their name and phone number to: snowflaketaylorcert@gmail.com. Registration is important because class size is limited. If there is enough interest, an alternate site or date will be provided.
