The Snowflake Unified School District recognized CC LaGrange for her 15 years of service at the Nov. 14 board meeting.
Superintendent Hollis Merrell had some very kind words to say about his long-time co-worker. “This lady is a wonderful lady but I’m sure you knew that already. CC started her career as a lab tech in Deer Valley in the agriculture program. CC and I came to the school district in the same year (1996). CC, with her knowledge and ties to the agriculture program, became my every-trip chaperone it seems like,” laughed Merrill.
“CC is a wonderful, warm, kind person and she is extremely dedicated to what she does. A lot of people throughout the district have no idea the time and effort that she puts in to making sure that everybody has what they need. I appreciate and admire her faith and persistence,” stated Merrill, adding that she would be staying on long enough to train her replacement. She’s going to stick around. “She’s an exemplary employee who has always gone above and beyond,” finished Merrell.
Further discussed at the meeting was the matter of staff performance pay at the end of the year. Superintendent Merrell stated that he would like to give staff their performance pay a little earlier in the month, before the holidays and the official end of the year. However, with the current system the staff’s bonus pay is based on their performance up until the day of payment. Superintendent Merrell and Business Manager Mark Ollerton both proposed that the performance pay be based on the staff member’s contracted hours instead. The motion was passed unanimously.
The next meeting of the SUSD governing board will be held at 5 p.m. on Dec. 12 at 682 School Bus Lane.
