Cressie Faye Nester, 93, of Show Low passed away surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, May 19, 2016, at her daughter’s home in Show Low. A viewing will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, May 21, at the Owens Livingston Mortuary-White Mountain Chapel, 320 N. Ninth St. in Show Low. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 22, at the Show Low Church of Christ, 3201 E. Deuce of Clubs in Show Low. Interment will follow in the Show Low Cemetery. Cressie was born the youngest of seven children to Wilburn Martin and Effie (Wafford) Davis on Jan. 2, 1923, in Clarendon, Texas. She grew up in Memphis, Texas, and graduated from Wellington High School on May 15, 1940, in Wellington. Following school she moved to Arizona and it was at the Hole in the Rock at Papago Park in Phoenix that she met the love of her life, Doyle Nester. It was a chance meeting, as she was being bullied and Doyle came to her defense and as they say, the rest is history. They were married on March 15, 1943, in Roswell, N.M. Doyle and Cressie lived in Holbrook for many years, where they owned and operated Nester Motors, working hand and hand together. She continued to work well into her 90s. They moved to Show Low in 1975. God and family were always first in her life, and her children and grandchildren held a special place in her heart. She loved her Lord and was a life-long member of the Church of Christ. She was a wonderful mother and granny to all, and words alone cannot express how much she was loved and how deeply she will be missed. She was preceded in death by her loving and devoted husband, a son-in-law, her parents, and her brothers and sisters. Survivors include her two daughters, Dinah Ridgley and her husband Dar, and Doyletta Koury Morris and her husband Jim; five grandchildren, Darla and Danny Milam, DJ and Christy Ridgley, Shane and Sandi Koury, Michael and Carolyn Koury, and DeeDee and James Lilly; 15 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; extended family, Jamie and Jason Bell and their children; as well as many loving nieces, nephews and friends. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Show Low Bible Camp, c/o Show Low Church of Christ, 3201 E. Deuce of Clubs, Show Low, Ariz. 85901 in Cressie’s name.
