He was raised in Ruthton, Minn., and graduated from Ruthton High School in 1971. He attended St. John’s University in Collegeville, Minn., and then enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard, serving his longest post at the Great Lakes Station in Charlevoix, Mich. He later graduated from Southwest Minnesota State University with a degree in agriculture banking. In August 1983, he married Sharon Faaborg in Tyler, Minn. Together, they lived in a number of towns in Minnesota, Michigan, Iowa and South Dakota as he pursued his career in banking and farm credit. In 1998, they moved to Snowflake. For the past 12 years, he had been a financial analyst/planner at Resource Specialties Inc. in Snowflake, in addition to being an on-site manager at Red Roof Storage. He loved working with his friends and colleagues, but he loved even more an afternoon on the golf course–and a good laugh. He especially enjoyed his annual summer vacation trips back to Minnesota, which allowed him the time to spend with family, relatives and friends, in addition to several rounds of golf. Survivors include his sister, Karen Trout of Brooklyn Park, Minn., his brother Phillip (Elizabeth) Trout of Faribault, and their two daughters, Megan and Lauren. He is also survived by his former wife, Sharon Hansen of Prescott Valley, her children, Kresta Faaborg, of Dickinson, N.D., and Chad (Jodi) Faaborg of Devil’s Lake, N.D., as well as their children, Gavin, Sydney and Samantha. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made at any Wells Fargo bank to the Craig Trout Memorial Fund.
