Billy Hale Robinson, 82, peacefully passed away surrounded by his loved ones on Thursday, Nov. 13, 2014, at his home in Show Low. Visitations will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 21, 2014 at the Owens Livingston Mortuary-White Mountain Chapel, 320 N. Deuce of Clubs. Interment will follow in the Show Low Cemetery. He was born to Jimmie Estelle Blaylock and Webster Hales on April 20, 1932, in El Paso, Texas. At a very young age Billy’s father Webster passed away. Following his passing, his mother Estelle remarried Frank Robinson and Billy then took the Robinson name. Together they raised Billy in Texas until 1936 when the family moved to Show Low. He attended elementary school in Show Low and high school in Snowflake. At the age of 18 Billy met the love of his life, Colleen Whipple, and on May 13, 1951, they were married in Show Low. Together they had seven beautiful children. At the age of 19 Billy became a member of the LDS church, and on April 18, 1958, Billy and Colleen were sealed for time and all eternity in the Mesa Temple. At the time of her passing they had enjoyed 55 wonderful years of marriage. An active member of the church, Billy served in various callings and was a longtime priesthood holder. He was employed by Southwest Forest Industries in McNary for many years before taking a job in the Navajo County Road Maintenance Department in Pinetop. He retired in 1994. An avid outdoorsman, Billy loved to fish and hunt, and did so all over the state of Arizona. He enjoyed the sense of peace he felt whenever he was on a great lake or stream with his line in the water, whether the fish were biting or not. A loving husband, father, grandfather and friend, Billy will be deeply missed by all. Survivors include his children, Colen Chris Robinson of Oracle, Nella Marie and Warner Walton of Snowflake, Jo Ellen and Wayne Cooper of Mesa, Melissa and Mike Knutson of Pampa, Texas, David and Dana Robinson of Show Low, and John and Swanie Robinson of Clay Springs; 17 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Glen “Booty” and Fran Robinson of Safford; and a sister, Frankie Leonardo of California. He was preceded in death by his wife, Colleen Robinson in 2006; infant daughter, Nancy Robinson; son-in-law, John Jones; and sister, Betty Mills. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Billy’s name to the LDS church Mission Fund, c/o Sierra Pines Ward, P.O. Box 1414, Show Low, Ariz. 85902.
