The Snowflake girls basketball team found themselves sitting on top of the 3A power rankings, as well as the Copper rankings when they were both released for the first time on Tuesday afternoon.
This week they only solidified that position with a home win over Alchesay on Friday, followed by a road win at Valley Christian on Saturday.
Their first meeting with the Falcons in Whiteriver, was an 11-point final outcome. This time hosting the Falcons, Snowflake again built a decent lead early, but they were outscored in the second half of a 59-48 final outcome.
Saturday afternoon, the team traveled to Chandler to face eighth-ranked Valley Christian. The Trojans had just one regular season loss, prior to their meeting with the unbeaten, at least in regular season, Lobos.
Snowflake didn’t struggle, confirming their spot on top of all 1A-3A schools in girls basketball. The Lobos easily won the game 51-35.
This week Snowflake will be on the road for three straight games. Tuesday, they travel to face Winslow. Thursday they will be on the road to play Payson. Then Friday a short trip to Blue Ridge.
Snowflake is on top of the 3A rankings. Tuba City is second; Window Rock, third; Pusch Ridge, fourth; and Show Low is currently fifth. The Lobos have already defeated Tuba City and Pusch Ridge this season, both on the road. Next week they will face Show Low twice in four days.
Snowflake enters this week with an overall record of 20-1.
