Holbrook played well through the first 16 minutes at Snowflake on Thursday night, but the second half belonged entirely to the Lobos in a 62-40 Snowflake win.

Travis Bia netted 7 of his game high total in the first period, keeping Holbrook within striking distance of Snowflake through the first eight minutes. In the second he added another 7 and Brady Becenti connected on one of his two treys, along with 3 from Amare Nelson, helping the Roadrunners take a 26-24 halftime lead.

The game started to tilt Snowflake’s way in the third where they outscored the Birds 17-7, Manny Rico netted 5 of the 7 for Holbrook.

The fourth quarter belonged entirely to Snowflake. With the game still in question in the early parts of the period Snowflake went on a scoring spree, finishing the quarter with 20 points, while holding Holbrook to just 4, resulting in the large final margin of victory.

Holbrook had many open looks at the bucket from distance; they just couldn’t connect. And with Snowflake having a physical size advantage in the paint, the Roadrunners were left with the loss.

Bia led Holbrook with 18 points. Becenti added 8; Nelson, 7; Rico, 5; and Braylon Taliman helped with 2. Holbrook made just two 3-point field goals, far less than their usual output, and went 8 for 12 from the line.

The Lobos were led by Jhett Udall and Gionn Jones each with 12 points. Landon Clare added 10. Snowflake made 10 of 15 charity tosses and connected on 5 shots from distance.

Holbrook ends the first semester with an overall record of 11-6, and they are 5-2 in regular season games. The team will be off for the Holiday break and will return to action with a busy first week in January. On Jan. 6, they travel to Winslow. There will be a home game on Jan. 8, with Monument Valley, then back up with a rematch with Snowflake in Holbrook on Jan. 9.
