The Lobos boys’ team played just once last week, ending their regular season with a tough home-field loss to rival Show Low by a final score of 3-1.
Snowflake entered that game ranked second, but despite the loss, they will enter the state playoffs still as the second-ranked team in the bracket.
As the No. 2 seed, they will host seventh-seeded Blue Ridge on Tuesday in the first round of the playoffs. These two teams met last week in a 5-2 Lobo win.
If Snowflake can again prevail over the Yellowjackets, they will face either No. 3 Northland Prep or No. 6 Sedona in the semifinal round. That match would be on Thursday at the higher-seeded team.
If the team can advance to the title game, it will be played at Coronado High School on Saturday with a 3:30 p.m. start time.
Highland Prep West is the top-ranked team in Fall Soccer with an unbeaten 13-0 record. Northland Prep is ranked third with an 11-1 mark. Show Low rounds out the top four in the final rankings with an 8-2-1 mark.
Snowflake’s girls team won their final two regular season matches played last week. Monday, they downed Chino Valley in a mercy rule 9-0 win. Wednesday’s match at Payson was closer but still resulted in a 5-2 win for the Lobos.
The Lady Lobos enter the state play-in game as the No. 3-ranked team and at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 6, they will host Blue Ridge. With a win, they would advance to the semifinal round on Thursday at the sites of the higher-seeded teams.
If the Ladies can advance to the title game, it will happen at Coronado High School beginning at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
Snowflake finished the regular season with a record of 11-1-1. St Johns is the top-ranked team with an unbeaten mark of 13-0.
