Joseph City had its two-game winning streak snapped at Williams on Friday night. The 12th-ranked Wildcats came into this game on a bit of a hot streak, having scored 48 and 44 points in their last two games. The ninth-ranked Vikings came in having lost three of their last four games.
Williams started another win streak and Joseph City had their streak come to a thundering halt with a 68-6 win by the Vikings.
The home team rolled up 42 points in the first quarter, then pushed that margin to 48 at the half. With a running clock, they tacked on two more scores in the third. Joseph City finally got on the board with a 44-yard touchdown pass from Kase Fish to Kyan Larsen.
Kase Fish completed seven passes for 139 yards with a score. J.D. Miller had one 29-yard reception. On the ground, Joseph City was held to just 27 yards, with all of those picked up by Fish, who carried 29 times to get those tough yards.
With the loss, Joseph City drops to 3-3 on the season. They will more than likely drop out of the top 12 in the 1A rankings as well. This week, they travel to Sedona, which is ranked at the bottom of the rankings. The Wildcats should have an opportunity to bounce back to the win column and possibly stay inside the 12th overall ranking. In 1A football, only the top 12 in the rankings make the state playoffs.
A win this week would possibly set up a playoff-style game in their final week of the regular season when they host Mogollon on Oct. 17.
