Snowflake pushed their season record to 19-3 with three wins last week. They currently sit at No. 2 in the 3A power point rankings behind Chinle. The team is 10-2 in regular season games, and 3-1 in east region contests.
Tuesday, the Lady Lobos pulled away from Winslow in the second half to win 66-38. The game was close early, but their transition game along with a strong interior game was too much for the Bulldogs over the final two periods.
Friday night was a trip to Whiteriver, where they came away with a 10-point win in a tough place to play. The Lady Lobos led by four at the end of the first but trailed 21-17 at the half. They retook the lead with a strong third quarter, then held off the Falcons down the stretch to win 48-38.
Saturday’s game was a match-up with Valley Christian who came into the game unbeaten in regular season contests and ranked right behind the Lobos in the rankings at No. 3.
Both teams struggled to score in the first half. Snowflake finally mustered enough points in the second half to win the game 39-28. Their defense was good on the Trojans offensive guard play which made a difference in the outcome.
This week the Lady Lobos face a quickly improving and 10th-ranked Cougar team in Show Low on Tuesday. Thursday they will host eighth-ranked Payson who has just one regular season loss, then Friday will host No. 16 Blue Ridge. Next Tuesday they return to the road to face Holbrook.
