The Lady Lobos have climbed to fourth in the latest 3A rankings heading into their final regular season game at Winslow on Monday. They earned that ranking by going 3-0 in action last week with all three east region games. They also wrapped up the east region crown with those wins.

Monday afternoon the Lobos were in Holbrook where they handed the Roadrunners a workmanlike 8-0 loss. Following three scoreless innings to start the game, Snowflake opened the scoring with 3 in the fourth. They added another in the fifth, 3 more in the sixth and 1 final run in the seventh.

Kashlynn Cantrell and the Lobo defense held Holbrook to just 2 hits in the win. Snowflake countered with 7 hits, and took advantage of 6 Holbrook errors, while making just 1 of their own.

The following day Snowflake made the trip to Alchesay to face the Falcons. Another slow start saw both teams score once in the first. The Lobos edged ahead with 2 in the second and 2 more in the third to lead 5-1. The fourth inning ended it. Snowflake scored 11 runs in the frame and won the game 16-1.

Adalyn Rodriguez went 1 for 2; Kinslee Claridge, 2 for 3 with a triple; Kloe Burden, 2 for 3; Cantrell, 1 for 3 with a double; Kelsey Scarbrough, 3 for 3; Brooklynn Lovingood, 2 for 4 with a pair of doubles; Addie Coor, 2 for 4; Paisley Solomon, 3 for 4 with a triple and 2 doubles; and Brodie Cates was 1 for 3.

Solomon worked four innings allowing just 1 run on 1 hit with 10 strikeouts and no walks.

Thursday’s home game with Blue Ridge was much more competitive. The Yellowjackets started well, putting Snowflake on their heels with 5 runs in the top of the first. Snowflake countered with 2 in the first, then took the lead with a 4-run second inning. They extended that lead with 1 in the third. Blue Ridge scored once in the fourth and again in the sixth. Snowflake added single runs in the fourth and fifth frames to win the game 9-7.

Each team finished with 10 hits.

Following Monday’s game at Winslow, the Lobos will wait to see who their opponent will be in the first official round of the 3A State playoffs. The 3A play-in games will be played on Wednesday this week. Those winners will be re-seeding into the final 16 team bracket and the first round of the state tournament begins on Saturday at higher seed sites. The quarter finals will be May 6, still at high seed sites.

Snowflake enters this week with a 17-9 overall record. They are 14-3 in power ranked contests.
