Snowflake’s Lady Lobos split their two games played last week with both games played on their home court. They fell to highly-ranked Window Rock on Wednesday night by 11 points. Then survived a tough game with Show Low on Friday night, hanging on to defeat the Lady Cougar by a single point.
Tuesday’s game with the Scouts was close through the first period and early into the second. From that point Window Rock put together a 17-0 scoring run to end the half and put Snowflake into a hole they were unable to climb out of before falling 55-44.
Friday’s game with Show Low was a struggle for both teams. Neither team was able to get into much of an offensive flow throughout the low-scoring game. Snowflake’s Livi Schneider netted 20 points and was the difference in a close game. Snowflake held a four-point lead in the final seconds before Show Low hit a trey at the buzzer making the final score 38-37 in favor of the Lobos.
With the split Snowflake’s overall record moved to 9-10 and they are now 3-7 in regular season games. Snowflake has begun to climb the 3A rankings and was at No. 22 prior to the Show Low win. This Tuesday they faced Holbrook who is also trying to recover from a poor start to the season. Holbrook entered this week ranked No. 25 and both clubs are hoping to be inside the top 24 when the final rankings come out in three weeks. After playing in Holbrook on Tuesday the Lobos will play at Blue Ridge on Friday against the 11th-ranked Yellowjackets.
