The Lady Roadrunners volleyball team have hit a rough spot in their past four matches including three losses last week. Those losses have put them in jeopardy of having to go on the road for the 3A state play-in match. If they can win their final regular season match on Wednesday at Payson they might be able to salvage a home game, depending on what happens around the state. Holbrook was ranked 17th in power points on Friday and needs to elevate that position to at least 16 to avoid having to travel for the play-in game which will be on Tuesday, Nov. 1. Seeds nine through 16 get to host seeds 17 through 24 in those play-in matches.

Holbrook began their three-game stretch last week with a 1-3 road loss to rival Winslow. The Bulldogs took the first game 25-18, and the second 25-22. Holbrook won game three 25-12, but the Dawgs closed the match by winning game four 25-15.

The next day Holbrook hosted Payson on senior night. The Longhorns entered the match ranked 24th, but by the end of the night they appeared the stronger team as they handed Holbrook a loss in four games 25-22, 26-24, 22-25 and 25-19.

Holbrook’s third and final game was a short trip to take on the top-ranked Lobos in Snowflake. The Lobos proved worthy of the top spot easily handling Holbrook in three games; 25-10, 25-17, and 25-19.

Holbrook travels to face Payson on Wednesday for their final regular season match. With a win, they have a chance to host a game on Tuesday next week. With a loss, they will be on the road on Tuesday.
