June Petersen
June Petersen born June 28, 1933, passed away peacefully Sept. 25, 2019. She was born in Williams, Ariz. The family then traveled from Heber to the Blue River (where they lived in tents for a few months) and to Holbrook with her dad working for the Job Corps and the U.S. Forest Service.
She was the oldest of three sisters. She attended elementary schools in Heber/Overgaard and graduated from Snowflake High School. She then married John L Paulsell and had three children, Patricia, Calvin and Penny whom they lost due to illness in March 1955. They divorced in 1966 and she then married Gerry Petersen with whom they had one child, Lisa, and they were married for over 40 years until he passed in January of 2013. She has six grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
She survived breast cancer and for many years suffered from Parkinson’s. Her family took care of her in her home for two years before passing.
She loved her children and family, loved to cook, Nascar, Cardinals, ASU football and travel. Her travel included Canada, Mexico, Europe and many states in the United States. She was active at Abiding Savior Lutheran Church for many years including being the wedding coordinator. She was active with her group of Red Hat Ladies and took many trips with them.
She worked as a medical secretary for years for Dr. Robert J Haley and Dr. Charles Howard. She worked for Scottsdale School District until she retired.
She would listen endlessly to anyone, her kids, grandchildren, friends, anyone who needed a listening ear. She would listen carefully and then give you some light advice. Sometimes not so light but you could take it or leave it.
A wonderful celebration of life was held on Nov. 2 at Abiding Savior Church in Tempe. She was buried in Heber with her parents and sister Kathleen. She is preceded by her parents, Carmen and Homer Moody and sisters, Patricia Riggs and Kathleen Haley.
